Help answer the question about diet nutrition weight loss
Effective diet for weight loss?I am 5'3, 145 lbs and 26 years old. I want to start slimming down for my upcoming wedding, and I want to lose the weight at a good rate so that I'm not trying one ridiculous crash diet after another.
I need a little bit of a jump-start to get me motivated… here is what I was thinking:
chicken breast (grilled, baked or lean deli meat)
tuna
yogurt
apples
lots and lots of water
no soft drinks (even diet)
EAS AdvantEDGE Carb Control shakes (2 carbs, 17 protein)
Lots and lots of salads
6 inch Subway Veggie Delite (as per the nutrition guide at Subway)
I want to try this "diet" for about three weeks to see how much I can lose to jump-start my weight loss. I will also be working out 3-4 times a week for at least an hour, and strength training for 30 minutes 2-3 times a week.
Does this sound like it would work? If I could lose 10 lbs within a month, that would give me a good jump-start and more motivation!
Any suggestions??

Sparkpeople.com is free. They have lists and pictures of exercises you could try and some exercises on youtube:

and
http://youtube.com/watch?v=nKCPcRcJmqc
They advocate healthful ways of losing weight, but don't sign up for too much because they send spam. (They have to fund the site somehow)
Looks to me like you are doing great on your own. I may be taking some pointers from you. Good Luck!
Try overeaters anonymous web site. Ask questions and they should be able to help. Tell them what you have told us about not being able to pay for a trainer etc. They will help.
In the meantime start walking everyday 3 – 4 times for 20-30 minutes.
Dieting is difficult if you love food, so get help at Overeaters Anonymous as I said above.
The key to a healthy, balanced diet is to eat a variety of foods, which for most people means eating more fruit and vegetables, more bread, cereals and potatoes, and less fatty and sugary foods. Your diet should ensure that you are getting your RDA, or Recommended Daily Allowance of nutrients. RDA is the amounts of selected nutrients considered adequate to meet the known nutrient needs of healthy people. The Food Pyramid will give you a good indication of the right kind of foods you should be eating on a daily basis.
Ideally intake of foods from the Fat group should be less than 30% of your daily food intake. The healthiest types of fat to choose are unsaturated fats such as sunflower oil or corn oil. The types of fat to stay away from are the saturated fats such as butter. Moderation is the key. A simple change from butter to margarine is a simple way to start cutting down on your saturated fat intake.
This sounds retarded.
Losing weight is more of a lifestyle change….fad diets don't work because you will revert to old habits in no time at all.
If you really feel like you need to "cleanse" your body, just drink water. Cleansing is what your kidneys are for.
It depends on what your goal is. The first thing that I noticed in your routine is that you're not doing any resistance training to your legs. Jogging will not give you the muscular look you desire in your legs, so in the end, you'll look disproportionate. If you're overweight, I recommend you do resistance training (weights) 5-6 times a week with your cardio workout. You can split them with weights in the morning and cardio at night or vice versa, but I still see the best results with weights in the morning. If you're thin and trying to put on weight, you will need more rest and you can split it to 4 days of weight training a week. As for dieting, whether you're trying to lose or gain weight, you need a consistent amount of protein with each meal. You can't load up on one aspect in one sitting to account for the day. Your body will not respond well to that. Good luck.
geez my doc just gave me effexor xr today and said I might lose weight with it I am female and 240 lbs with hypo thyroid. I would love to hear how you stay in such good shape. I am 33 and want this weight off so bad but diet and exercise have not helped as I just yo yo. How was your experience with that particular drug by the way?
wow. Looks like you had allot of thought to this. My thoughts to this. People have been drinking milk for positively centuries and millenia. If you like it, drink it. If you don't, don't.
